Why Babymoon? The Story Behind Our Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

When people search for a prenatal yoga teacher training, the options can feel endless. So why Babymoon? The answer begins almost 30 years ago, long before the Yoga Alliance or online courses existed, and before prenatal yoga became mainstream.

Babymoon was founded in 1995 inside the bustling studios of New York City. At that time, prenatal yoga was just beginning to be recognized as a vital practice for supporting pregnancy. Our founder didn’t simply want to create another yoga class—she wanted to build a space where mothers-to-be could move, breathe, and feel truly cared for during one of life’s most profound transitions.

Over the years, those classes grew into something more: a community and a curriculum. Teachers began asking for guidance—how do you safely cue a pregnant student in Downward Dog? How do you adapt a class when a mom-to-be is in her second or third trimester? What about the emotional shifts of pregnancy, not just the physical? These questions became the seeds of the Babymoon Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training.

Unlike programs that popped up later, Babymoon’s training has always been rooted in real-world experience. Every posture, every modification, every cue has been tested in the studio with real students. And behind every lesson is the philosophy that yoga isn’t just about alignment—it’s about connection, compassion, and meeting each student exactly where she is.

Today, our training lives online, making it possible for teachers around the world to carry this tradition forward. But even in digital form, it carries the same spirit: a balance of technical knowledge and heartfelt teaching. Babymoon isn’t about memorizing a script. It’s about learning to see, to listen, and to guide students with confidence and care.

So why Babymoon? Because we’ve been here since the beginning. Because our training is built on decades of lived practice, not theory. And because when you join Babymoon, you’re not just getting certified—you’re becoming part of a lineage of teachers who know that yoga during pregnancy is more than movement. It’s preparation, it’s grounding, it’s love.
